New challenge!

First, lemme say, WOW it's been a long time since I've posted. I feel bad. I've been so busy, I really have. My dad's been in the hospital the last few days having surgery. He's doin' fine now. Anywho, I've got a little challenge for you nerdy people like me out there. Michael, are you paying attention? Good. =)

I recently posted this up in my cubicle. They so rarely actually provide us lowly help desk analysts with plaques displaying our names and titles, so I have been forced to create my own. I rather enjoyed it actually, because it gives me small, silent piece of real estate on my cubicle in which I can "Stick it" to the man. I doubt few of the other help desk peeps and absolutely NONE of the managers have a CLUE what this means:

(Last name censored, hehe.) Evaluate this down to its simplest form and post a comment with the solution and your email and I'll send you a special treat. (I have no idea what but I'll think of something.)

  1. You should be ashamed for not posting. What are we supposed to read while you're off lolly-gagging around town?

    Anyway, the closed form solution of the infinite series 1 + 1/2 + 1/4 + ... is 2 so the infinite series 1/2 + 1/4 + ..., I hypothesize to be 1.

    e^pi * i is -1

    1 - (-1) = 2

    Level 2 Analyst?

    Cheers.

  2. Damn it, Steve. You're too quick! I'm gonna have to make these more difficult next time!

No need to guess, it converges to 1, and yes, 2 is the correct answer. No one at work has yet to get it right (and they should all very well know my level by now, you'd think).

    So, Kudos to you, Steve!

  3. BTW, no one ever gave the answer to the previous one posted a long time ago:

    Hair-Ripping Fun!

The answer is easy enough to figure out, but no one can show their work!
