Operation: Bub-bye
Operation: Return to Sender is the US goverment's last ditch effort to at least dent the large number of illegal immigrants who are largely repeat felons, gang members, and the like. I heard on the radio (which along with the Internet is apparently where I get all news from lately) that they recently raided a school in California and deported a bunch of people.
A physical barrier like a fence is a feable but necessary effort. There are all kinds of other ways people can get into the US illegally, too. I wonder if Bush has discussed any of this with the Mexican president today or whether it was all about trade relations. We in America love our cheap shit!
Warning: Borderline (no pun intended) Conservative / Republican views expressed here!
Now, I feel that illegal immigration is a huge problem in the country. It's great if you wanna come to the US legally, get yourself nationalized, and pay taxes just like the rest of us, but if you're going to do it illegally, you should be deported. We've been too soft on illegal immigrants for too long. They're starting to teach history, math, and science in Spanish-only classes here in Charlotte. That's great for learning Spanish. Why not German or Japanese? Cuz it's not for those learning Spanish, it's for those that don't speak English to begin with. How do these kids make it through school without learning enough English to even get by in classes? If I enrolled in all Spanish classes, I think I'd do well and come out speaking Spanish much better.
I think it's ridiculous that we don't have an official federal language. It's up to each state to decide whether or not they want one or not. Letting the states come up with their own laws is going to be the downfall of this country. The united states are dividing themselves more and more. More ranting on that later.
A friend sent me this link. It's awfully hilarious.
